Since returning from BMT, I feel like we've been on one vacation after another—and I'm not complaining! This past week, we turned the 4th of July holiday into a four-day weekend and snuck off to McCall, Idaho to join my dad and his wife for the Independence Day celebration.
We fished—Daniel caught a monster!—we people watched at the Mile High Marina, ate delicious food (and plenty of ice cream), played cards, and best of all—we relaxed. For this trip, we decided to bring our bikes along—and boy, we're glad we did. We arrived in McCall and parked our car on Wednesday night and didn't touch it again until we returned home on Sunday morning. We biked everywhere we went, which was easy, considering that my dad's wife's cabin is a mile from the lake.
It was just an awesome and fun-filled vacation. Oh, and the firework show was amazing. If you're in the Idaho area for the 4th and are looking for a good firework show, Payette Lake brings only the best.
Daniel did catch a much bigger fish as well, promise!
The mayhem on Payette Lake during the 4th.
Relaxing on the party barge before the big firework show.
Ready for the fireworks!
Our friends Casey and Erica joined us for the firework celebration.
What an awesome 4th it was. It felt a little different now—you know, since joining the military. It feels good. I am very, very proud to be an American, that's for sure. God bless the U.S.A.

Aww glad you were able to enjoy it!!
That length of hair looks fabulous on you! (I know I said it already, but still!) and it looks like you had so much fun for your 4th of July! Glad someone enjoyed it!
Thanks Kat! I (ha!) have gained back a bit of the weight I lost at BMT so I'm finally feeling healthy again!
Happy 4 day weekend to you! Boats are so much fun... but SO MUCH MONEY. So glad my dad and his wife have always spoiled us with theirs. I won't own one anytime soon :)
Thanks Pamela. Hope your weekend and Independence Day was wonderful!
Thanks Laura! It's at such a middle stage, but I really like it. I can do up or down really easily :) What did you do?!
It looks really good! And yeah, I spent all weekend inside because of my awful sunburn! My skin finally started peeling and it's all icky and it hurts! Wear sunscreen!
Looks like a great weekend! My favorite way to watch fire works is definitely on the lake! :)
Your hair is getting so long! Looks like you had a fantastic time. Very deserved. :)
Oh gosh... that's so terrible! I burned my scalp two weeks ago, along my part line. That was no fun. I can't imagine a full-body burn! Ugh! Feel better, skin!
My other favorite way is to just watch from a distance. Ha! I'm too timid to set them off myself :)
Thanks Shannon! I seem to be putting it up in a messy bun every day... I never realize it's longer until I let it down! Keep growing, hair, keep growing! Hoping all is well with you :)
I think my scalp was the only thing I didn't burn because my hair was covering the part from me tying my hair up. but, we're getting there. For a while I couldn't even move and now i'm getting a lot of mobility back. All in stride!
Looks like a fun 4th, I'm glad you had such a great time!
If anyone deserves a relaxing good time, it's YOU! LOL @ Daniel's fishy.
Thanks Krysten!! Hope yours was nice, too!
Ha!! He made me include that he DID catch a bigger one, we just didn't capture it on film. At least he was able to reel his in... I caught 3 and couldn't get any up on the dock before they came off the line!
Oh my goodness I LOVE McCaul!!! This summer I got to experience the beauties of Idaho for the first time. We didn't stop in McCaul, but we did pass through on our way to Couer d'alene. My family and I were so sad we couldn't stop and explore a bit, because it looked like the cutest, most beautiful, little town ever! It's definitely on my bucket list to go back and stay for awhile :)
You must! I recommend staying in Shore Lodge... it's the picture perfect, historic place to go! And make sure you stop in at The Marina (if you're there during the summer) and Ice Cream Alley. Those are our favorite spots!
