Love Languages

Last night, Daniel asked me a beautiful question.
He said, "Can I brush your hair?"

My heart melted.

See, he grew up watching his dad comb out his mom's blonde, thick mane after every shower,
just because he loved to do it for her.
Now, Daniel does it for me, too.
Not every time, but that makes it just that much more special.
He sits on the couch, me with crossed legs on the ground in front of him.
He combs while I relax and rest against his legs.
Such a tender moment.

Sunday, Daniel and I learned about our love languages.
We have yet to read the book... but we did take the quiz.
The results didn't surprise us.
1. Quality Time.
2. Physical Touch.
3. Words of Affirmation.
4. Acts of Service.
5. Receiving gifts.
We both scored almost identically in each category.

We speak the same love language.
We aren't perfect, by any means.
But by knowing what makes the other tick
or get ticked off,
we are able to work together to build our love.

And let me tell you,
the foundation becomes stronger by the day.

This is such a sweet post. I love reading about the normal, everyday kind of love stories and sweet moments. Sounds like you've got a real good one :)

Ok, that is so sweet :-) I love my hair being brushed too, so I totally understand that one specifically!

And isn't it so neat to find out your love languages? Once we found ours out, it has helped a lot in understand why the other acts a certain way. And also how to better love each other! :-)

My dad used to comb or plait my hair for me when I was younger. When there was time he'd plait it in like 10 plaits - he once plaited my fringe too and it stood up on end pretty much the whole next day I don't think my Mum was too impressed!

I don't think Chris has ever brushed my hair for me usually because I get out the shower and then read or mooch about and then like an hour later brush out the tangles lol. It would be really sweet if he did do it though.

I love that quiz. Pete and I are opposite (my list is the exact opposite of yours, his is pretty close to yours) but at least that quiz let us know so we can work on it! That's so sweet of Daniel, he's the cutest.

My husband and I are opposites, which leads to lots of miscommunications. Since taking the quiz we're getting better though.

I LOVE that he brushes your hair! My dad used to brush my mom's hair every now and then and they've been married for 28 years so I'd say that's a good start to a long, healthy marriage! Haha

It is awesome that you two scored so similarly! That is very rare! My husband and I score the complete opposites!

That is so sweet! I read the Five Love Languages for a religion class when I was in high school and I actually learned a TON about myself from reading the book. I highly suggest reading it. I intend on having my future husband someday and I reading it before we get married.

Wow, that is really awesome that you have similar ones! My husband and I read the book while we were dating and are opposites, but by knowing that, we have learned so much about each other and have been able to understand others, too. I highly recommend reading the book, you'll be surprised at how many things go into each love language that you never would have thought about. It's really well written! But in the meantime, enjoy getting your hair brushed! :)

So sweet. Joe comes my hair when I'm sick. I love it. I love having my hair played with!
My love language is words of affirmation.
I haven't had Joe take the test, but I loved the book! It's a super quick read and really helpful!

This is so sweet! I haven't read the Love Languages book yet but I took the quiz my senior year in high school as part of our english class. Quality time scored high for me and then receiving gifts were next. haha. Words of affirmation came very last.

The Love Languages book is good. Gary Chapman also wrote a book called Things I Wish I'd Known Before We Got Married - I highly recommend! He talks about various issues married couples encounter, and how to work through them before marriage so as to avoid conflict.
That's cool you and your man both have the same love languages, btw. :)

I've heard of the Love Languages book, but never introduced it to my husband or read it myself. It's definitely true that you need to be on the same page. I feel like I learn more about and from my husband every day. The month after our wedding was actually a little rocky (well after the honeymoon I should say), but now things have evened out and I think they're better than ever. Happy to have found you from a mutual blog friend!
